Mick Parkin Post-Fight Interview | UFC Fight Night: Ribas vs Namajunas
/

Usman got the better of the exchanges in the opening stanza, stinging Parkin and opening a cut over his left eye with a pair of heavy, looping right hands before the British prospect drew level by being the more active and effective of the two in the second. In the final frame, the two stayed in close quarters, trading shots throughout, neither man establishing a clear advantage.

After the scores were added up, it was Parkin that came away ahead, maintaining his unbeaten record and advancing to 9-0 overall in his career. The 28-year-old Englishman is now 3-0 in the UFC and continues to show promise as he keeps piling up experience. | Official Scorecards

Andre Lima Octagon Interview | UFC Fight Night: Ribas vs Namajuas
/

For the nearly eight minutes this fight lasted, it was thoroughly entertaining as the Dana White’s Contender Series graduate went back-and-forth, showcasing why they each earned contracts last season. But just after the midway point of the bout, referee Chris Tognoni called time to review the possibility that Severino had bitten Lima, and the replay — and Lima’s arm — showed that is precisely what happened.

With the win, Lima advances to 8-0 overall, while Severino drops from the ranks of the unbeaten with the loss. What a crazy turn of events in the second fight of the night.

Daria Zhelezniakova defeats Montserrat Rendon by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Bantamweights Daria Zhelezniakova and Montserrat Rendon went the distance in a clash of styles on Saturday’s prelims.

In the striking exchanges, the Russian newcomer was the cleaner, more effective of the two, but in the clinch and grappling exchanges, Rendon showed her advantages. Neither woman was able to grab clear control of the contest at any point, with the duo instead trading moments in all three rounds, leaving it to the judges to decide.

All three judges saw the fight the same, awarding Zhelezniakova the unanimous decision win in her promotional debut, lifting her to 9-1 overall as a professional.

Jarno Errens defeats Steven Nguyen by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

After coming up short in his first two trips into the Octagon, Holland’s Jarno Errens finally collected his initial UFC victory on Saturday, spoiling Steven Nguyen’s promotional debut.

The Dutch featherweight settled into his range and rhythm early in the first round, busting Nguyen’s lip and continuing to unload and batter the Fortis MMA man from that point forward. He mixed up his attacks well, battering Nguyen’s lead leg and flooring him at the end of the second before continuing to get the better of things in the all-action preliminary card battle.

Errens was on the wrong side of the scorecards against William Gomis in Paris and SeungWoo Choi in Singapore, but his first business trip to Las Vegas proved positive, with all three judges awarding him the victory in a clean sweep of the scorecards.

Miles Johns defeats Cody Gibson by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Miles Johns continued his run of quality performances inside the Octagon on Saturday, as the streaking bantamweight collected a unanimous decision win over veteran Cody Gibson.

Miles Johns Post-Fight Interview | UFC Fight Night: Ribas vs Namajunas
/

The compact former LFA champ got the better of the interactions throughout the first, wrestling well and slinging hammers at the recent TUF finalist. Gibson had early success in the second, working around to Johns’ back, but the Kansas native was able to work free and control the remainder of the frame before grinding things out over the final five minutes to salt away the victory.

Johns was a highly regarded prospect when he touched down in the UFC and has seemingly found his footing, advancing to 5-2 with one no contest result in eight trips into the Octagon. While Gibson is indefatigable and dogged, the veteran slipped to 0-2 in his second stint in the promotion with the loss, and just 1-5 overall on the big stage.

Julian Erosa defeats Ricardo Ramos by submission (guillotine choke) at 2:15 of Round 1

Trey Ogden Post-Fight Interview | UFC Fight Night: Ribas vs Namajunas
/

The timing and top pressure of Ogden were the keys to his contest, as each time Holobaugh backed him into the fence and looked to attack, the Marathon MMA leader changed levels and put the Louisiana native on the deck, settling into top position and working him over from there. Shoulder strikes, short punches, and tactical positional advances kept Ogden from being stood up and Holobaugh had no answers from the bottom.

This was Ogden’s first win in his last three starts and brought his record to level at two wins, two losses, and one no contest in five UFC appearances. After Miles Johns collected a victory earlier in the evening, Ogden gave the team a second victory on the evening and a seventh straight win in the UFC.
